In a customer's profile page, click on the "Banking" tab on the left sidebar.
This is where you can track customers' financial transaction costs that they may have incurred.
How to Enter Financial Transaction Costs
1. Scroll down and click on the "Baseline Zero" button
Before filling in any of the fields, be sure to scroll down and click on the “Baseline Zero” button first.
Clicking on "Baseline Zero" helps to automatically enter the number 0 for each field in the "Banking" tab.
Entering the number “0” (when a customer doesn't have anything in that account) establishes a baseline that allows Change Machine to track the customer’s progress. This also helps to indicate that you already have that particular conversation with your customer.
2. Fill in the fields in the "Current" column
It may be helpful to ask your customers if they have incurred any banking fees in the past, including using fringe services like check cashing. Enter the amount as you go through each field.
Tip: The "Transportation" field refers to transportation fees incurred — be it public transportation or gas for cars — in order to access banking services such as a bank's branch or ATM.
3. Toggle between weekly, monthly and annually
For a specific banking fee that you're entering for your customer, under the "Period" column, you may toggle between weekly, monthly and annually.
If a weekly or monthly period is selected, Change Machine automatically extrapolates the number to an annual figure under the "Annual" column.
Tip: Show your customer the annualized amount of the financial transaction costs they may have incurred. It may help your customer to visualize what the fees spent could be used for: perhaps a debt, or saved towards an action-oriented goal.
Change Machine automatically saves and calculates all banking fees entered.
The total monthly and annual banking fees may be found at the bottom bar of the screen.
Tracking Banking Fees Over Time
If you have been seeing the same customer over several meetings and have entered data in those meetings, you will be able to see historical information over time.
1. Click on a category name
For instance, this can be "ATM Fees" or "Check Cashing."
2. A detailed pane of information will appear on the right side
This pane displays the current banking fee amount, along with a table of relevant historical banking fees.
In the table of historical data, click on the "Period" or "Amount" column to edit data for past banking fees.
Printing the Banking Dynamic Worksheet
Clicking the "Print" button at the bottom of the Banking dynamic worksheet will enable you to print a summary of the financial transaction costs entered in the dynamic worksheet.
Depending on your customer's language preference selected within the customer's Details tab, the language on the printout will be in either English or Spanish.
